Mental Health Wellness:
Mood disorders are pervasive in our culture, and far too many are untreated. Common - and often effective - methods of treatment include psychotherapy and prescription anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medications. I offer counseling/psychotherapy services while incorporating other treatment modalities that promote healthy brain chemistry and address any contributing physiological issues. I also work collaboratively with several mental health counselors to provide support and help develop treatment strategies for improving mood disorders.
Natural treatment strategies for improving mood include:
Increasing serotonin levels with specific nutrients
Nutritional and botanical support for anxiety and depressed mood
Treatment of sleep disorders
Balancing hormones and blood sugar
Adjunctive support (to established psychotherapy): I tailor treatment plans to each patient, respecting individual lifestyle preferences and choices. Typically I will meet with patients over three or four visits during the first few months of working together. After we have worked to figure out the most effective means of treatment, I often recommend appointments as-needed to address any new or returning symptoms.
